my friend flan asked me to write a surf rock inspired score for a game they're working on. i used the opportunity to explore working with the same tools i used when i was in high school: a guitar, a bass, and a casiotone mt45 keyboard running through a johnson j-station amp modeler. my older brother gave me an mt45 when i was probably still in preschool, and i had it (and used it on literally everything) all the way until it got lost at the end of college. i finally bought another one right before the lockdown order went into place in march of 2020, and it really forms the backbone of the music on this ep- every time i touch that keyboard i end up writing something. i wrote and recorded this material really quickly- most of this music was first written and recorded in probably two or three days in mid-august of 2020, part of fourteen tracks i demoed over the course of about a week. i went back to tweak and re-record "extreme beam" and "interstate infinity" a couple of months later, and the final touch came when gobbinjr offered to contribute vocals to "extreme beam." she is one of my absolute favorite artists and i am extremely thrilled that she is on here!
